Prompt
Help me develop a character.
Who they are so far (role in the story, anything I already know):
{{character_so_far}}
The story's genre and setting: {{story_context}}
What I want this character to do or represent in the story: {{role_in_story}}
Please develop them into someone I can write consistently:
- **Core:** what they want (the external goal) versus what they actually need (the internal one), and the flaw or wound that drives both.
- **Backstory:** the few formative events that made them this way — only what's load-bearing, not a full biography.
- **On the page:** how they speak, what they notice, their contradictions, and small specific details that make them feel real rather than a type.
- **Arc:** how they could plausibly change over the story, or why they won't.
Keep everything internally consistent — motivations should explain behavior, and the voice should match the backstory. Give me a distinctive person, not a stock archetype. Where you're filling gaps I didn't specify, mark them as suggestions so I can keep or swap them. If the character's role in the story is unclear, ask before you build.
