Alation's MCP server ships inside its AI Agent SDK, letting agents query catalog metadata, lineage, policies and business definitions in natural language so answers are grounded in governed context rather than a model's guess at what a column means. It supports stdio for direct client connections and HTTP for web and API integrations, and is distributed through PyPI as alation-ai-agent-mcp, Docker, and the Databricks Marketplace for use with Agent Bricks.
