Supabase

Open-source Postgres development platform bundling auth, storage, realtime, edge functions and vector search around a real database.

About Supabase

Supabase gives every project a full Postgres database rather than a proprietary datastore with a database-like API, and that choice is the whole design. Because the primitive underneath is the most widely deployed relational database there is, the data stays portable and the extension ecosystem comes along with it.

Around that core it assembles the services an application usually needs before it can ship: authentication with row-level security enforced in the database itself, file storage, realtime synchronisation for multiplayer features, edge functions for custom server code, and vector embeddings for search against machine-learning models.

The REST APIs are generated from the schema, so the data layer is usable the moment a table exists. The pitch — build in a weekend, scale to millions — describes the intended shape of the trade-off: platform convenience early without the migration cliff later.
