Claude Haiku 4.5 is Anthropic's fastest model, positioned for near-frontier intelligence at the lowest price in the Claude lineup: $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output. It is a generation behind the Claude 5 models rather than a smaller version of them — it carries a 200K context window against their 1M, a 64K max output against their 128K, and a February 2025 reliable knowledge cutoff. It also uses the older extended-thinking mode and does not accept the effort parameter. Choose it for high-volume classification, extraction, and routing work where latency and cost dominate and the knowledge gap does not matter.
